In the early 1960s the Turkish Ministry of Culture turned the lower part of Bodrum Castle into an impressive museum - the largest of its kind in the world - displaying artifacts excavated from shipwrecks found in the Aegean Sea (including the world´s biggest collection of amphoras as well as one of the shipwrecks themselves).
