A tribute to my friend, the late travel media icon Arthur Frommer

The legendary U.S. travel journalist and entrepreneur Arthur Frommer passed away November 18 at the age of 95. While serving in the U.S. Army in Europe in the 1950s, he got the travel bug, came out with a travel guide for servicemen, and followed up in 1957 with…

What do you wear to Seven Magic Mountains?

Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation located in the Nevada desert, and the weather can be quite hot and dry. Therefore, it is recommended to wear comfortable and breathable clothing, such as shorts, t-shirts, and sandals or sneakers. You may also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. It's also a good idea to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. While there is no strict dress code, it's important to dress appropriately for the weather and…

  • Autumn in Zion

Thanks, Nancy. Another outstanding region to photograph in autumn is Zion National Park. Hopefully the link above will work this time. One of my images of the two women crossing the Virgin River (not included in this lightbox) was in the Why We Travel section of The New York Times.

  • There it is!  Nice photos, Susan!  I've never been to the NW...
  • Hmmm. my link that I carefully typed in didn't work. Here it is. This time it works.

  • Susan, I hit the link and it gave me an error...

  • Autumn Leaves in the Pacific NW

Nice images Thomas and Nancy. Fall foliage in the Pacific NW is truly lovely as well. Attached is one of my lightboxes from the region.

  • You're probably right about the location.  I was in a different place every night and put over 1500 miles on the rental car...
  • Here's another Monongahela National Forest image, Williams River.  The misty look in the background is snow starting to fall (snow starts early up here).  This is a couple of miles from my home.

  • Thank you Nancy.  The image you just posted is of Long Point, Summersville Lake, not Babcock State Park.

Yes, I spend a good deal of time in West Virginia.  I live here :-).

  • Very nice photos, Thomas!  Do you spend a great deal of time in WV?
  • I did some shooting at Carnifax Ferry today (the 150th anniversary of the battle) and plan to be back there tomorrow for the battle re-enactment.9012314301?profile=original
