A 5½-hour drive down the coast from Luanda, this sandy stretch fringed with palms near the good-size city of Sumbe (pop. 280,000) is uncrowded; has clear, calm, and mostly quite shallow water (therefore great for families with young kids); and is known for its natural beauty. And there are of course plenty of services and places to stay right nearby.
