As you drive around this region, all over you´ll see these ubiquitous square buildings perched atop stone columns to keep them safe from vermin and other critters. Also known as horrius and horrus in Asturian dialect, there are some 18,000 of them, and this one is one of several in the eastern Asturias hamlet of Sames, near Cangas de Onís and the Picos de Europa mountains.
