A bit of clarification -- these guys were not skiing at the Jackson Hole Ski Resort. They were skiing out-of-bounds, in Grand Teton National Park, which is up the road from the resort and not monitored by National Ski Patrol or groomed by those giant snow smoothing machines. There are similar cliff bands within the resort, but wherever they stick out, they are clearly roped off to be avoided, even by skiers this good.
A bit of history -- The first man to ski the Grand Teton, the tallest peak in the park, did it solo, more than 50 years ago, after climbing up with the skis on his back. No helicopters to drop him there and no camera crews to immortalize the feat, so not many people know about him.
Just thought I'd let the group know that the 2-bed apartment in my chalet in Le Grand Bornand (1 hour Geneva) in the French Alps is available for a full-season rental (December - April inclusive) this winter ... Please get in touch for more details/price. Sleeps 4 in comfort - 3 minutes to pistes by car or 10-15 minutes on foot.

I just thought I would let you know I am the new Big Earth snow sports expert (expert in the loosest sense of the word). So I am frantically trying to gather information for some features and news items and of course thought of my friends over at Tripatini for advice.
I am currently researching new trends in the ski/snowboard world - which resorts are trying different things in terms of the environment, pricing, access etc.
Also if any of you know of any new resorts opening this year (season 2010/2011) then please let me know.
