Considered by many Paraguay´s best museum, the Museo del Barro was founded on the capital´s outskirts in 1979 to house the indigenous pottery (hence the "clay" reference) held by a pair of collectors, and while pottery and thousands of other objects of indigeous art and culture are still very much a key part of today´s museum, it also displays some 3,000 works of contemporary Paraguayan art.
