Pyongyang's Kim Il Sung Square

Named for North Korea's founding dictator and similar in design to Pekin's Tiananmen Square, this expanse of nearly 807,300 square feet was built in 1954 to accommodate rallies and other large gatherings (it can accommodate 100,000). That large building is the Great People's Study House, the national library, built in traditional Korean style in 1982.
