The most compelling cultural attraction of this city on the central plateau is home to the famous Nok terracotta sculptures (pictured here) — among the oldest known figurative art in sub-Saharan Africa, dating back over 2,000 years, as well as an extensive pottery hall, a collection of life-size replicas of traditional architecture; and artifacts from the country´s colonial and post-colonial history.
