I had to choose one of three branches to visit, and I chose archaeology, which provides fascinating glimpses of this island from the Stone Age through the late Middle Ages. Iron and Bronze Age artifacts, medieval art, plenty of cool early-medieval stuff from the Vikings, and most intriguingly of all, a section devoted to "bog bodies," gruesomely twisted cadavers preserved in peat bogs, the oldest of which dates back to around 2000 BCE.
