Of course we took a stroll through 18th-century Merrion Square Park, at the center of the eponymous tony Georgian square, with its star attraction, the louche, lounging statue of seminal (and controversial) gay 19th-century Dublin-born writer Oscar Wilde installed in 1997 facing the Georgian Oscar Wilde House, where he was born in 1854, creating one of the city’s most memorable literary pairings; inside are various exibits about his life, work, and literary legacy.
