The last time I visited Las Vegas, our group drove out to the 308-square-mile Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, just over 20 minutes west of the Strip. We had a great time driving (and sometimes climbing) around these amazing sandstone formations, and learned a lot at the visitor center. Highly recommended.
