On my visit to Cairo this past January, I had the pleasure of visiting this synagogue in the old town, which dates back to 892 CE. Its current form was inaugurated in 1892, but there are so few Jews left in Cairo now - just a few doesn´t - that this is no longer in use, and since being renovated in 2023 it´s open for visits. However, due to terrorism fears, all visitors now have to go through a security check and bag screening, and taking photos is no longer allowed. This is a pic shared with me by our tour guide from before the photo ban.
