Ah Roma, what a glorious mess! Well, perhaps we exaggerate, but there's no question that the Eternal City, though unquestionably bellissima, is also a tad caotica. That shouldn't get in the way of your enjoying the jawdropping sights, outstanding restaurants, mouthwatering gelaterie (ice-cream parlors), snazzy shopping, and the host of other stuff served up here. And though it's no longer dirt-cheap, by no means does it have to break the bank, either. And don't miss an excursion or two into Rome's hinterland, the Lazio (Latium) region, with gorgeous cities like Viterbo, ancient ruins at Ostia Antica (Roman) and Cerveteri (Etruscan), beach resorts like Terracina and Sperlonga, and molto di più.
