The 237-year-old epicenter of Cork´s booming foodie scene, with fancy vaulted ceilings and a series of market stalls featuring plenty tasty local comestibles (including tasty chocolates, which we were more than happy to sample), though I have to say some of the local specialties - such as tripe, crubeens (pigs´ feet), and drisheen (blood pudding) - were not my speed, to say the least. (Parenthetically, I´m a bit bemused by the name English Market, given Corkonians´ traditionally fierce independent streak and pride as Ireland´s "rebel city."
