The Bibi Khanym Mosque in Samarkand, Uzbekistan's

One of the most famous landmarks in Uzbekistan's UNESCO World Heritage "Crossroad of Cultures," built by order of Timur (Tamerlane) at the beginning of the 15th century and restored (some experts say poorly) beginning in the 1970s, when the country was part of the Soviet Union.
