The amphitheatre of Petra, Jordan

Built in the period 9 BCE-40 CE and inspired by Roman/Hellenistic design but with marked Nabatean stylistic influences, a good part of the theatre was carved out of solid rock, and it could accommodate around 8,500 spectators.
