Guadeouple's premier rum distillery, Damoiseau

Of Gwada's 13 rum distilleries, the best known and with the largest market share - as well as the only one of Basse Terre island - is Damoiseau, founded in the lown of Le Moule in 1942. With 58 hectares of sugarcane fields, it produces some 8 million litres of white, dark, and aged rum every year, exporting most of it, to some 40 countries. Now run by the founder's grandson, Hervé Damoiseau, it welcomes visitors for tours and tastings.
