A photo taken several weeks ago from atop Monte Igeldo, with the gorgeous Bay of Biscay harbor, La Concha Beach waterfront, and Monte Urgull in the breathtaking background. This Basque city of 187,000 dates back to Roman settlements, was officially founded in 1180,  and blossomed especially in the last 15 years of the 19th century when it became a favorite summer getaway of royalty and aristocracy, when many of its Belle-Époque buildings were constructed. Today even though there are few "sights" per se to see, Sanse is still a popular summer destination, and home to internationally important cultural festivals such as the San Sebastián International Film Festival in September and July's San Sebastian Jazz Festival (Jazzaldia).
