Capping off the annual holiday season, Puerto Rico’s most vibrant and colorful festival is las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián (SanSe for short), a four-day, music-filled cultural jubilee in mid-January centred around one of Old San Juan’s main streets. During the day, people throng to the plazas to see artists and artisans as well as live music, dance, and even circus acts. After sundown, the party really gets started and the street fills with people and music, with one of the highlights of the festivities a parade featuring cabezudos (marchers wearing cartoonish, satyrical papier-mâché heads). It's one of the "5 Highlights of the Holidays in Puerto Rico" I recently covered on the Tripatini blog!
