Developed beginning in 1890, this onetime sugar plantation became one of the Caribbean´s most distinguished botanical gardens, but Hurricane David in 1979 took a toll on many of its finest trees. Still, these 40 acres still harbor plenty of flora to appreciate, including the bois kwaib, Dominica's national tree and flower, cannonball trees, banyans, century palms, and ylang ylang. And you can also see a giant baobab tree flattened by David with a school bus pinned underneath!
