Up in tiny Maranhão state in the northeast of the country, the Lençóis Maranhenses are a coastal national park consisting of nearly 600 square miles of rolling sand dunes with valleys which during rainy season fill with freshwater lagoons, creating an amazing landscape that attracts legions of ecotourists each season.
