Ouidah, the voodoo capital of Benin

Voodoo (also known as Vodun), the religion of ancestor and spirit worship as well as rituals including animal sacrifices, originated in what is today Benin and specifically around this coastal city of around 76,000
Followed by around 17 percent of the country's people, it's been one of Benin's official religions for nearly 30 years.

And one of the highlights of the year is the Voodoo festival which takes place here every January 10.
