Tea tourism in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamu Nadal, India

Next door to Kerala, at the Indian Subcontinent's southernmost tip, Tamil Nadu state is home to a section of the Western Ghats known as the Nilgiris, where tea growing is an important source of income, with plants grown at altitudes of 1,000-2,500m (3,281-8,202 ft.). This high altitude makes the aroma and taste of Nilgiri tea particularly distinctive - black, brisk, fragrant, and full-bodied, often described as with slightly fruity, minty undertones. Tea tourism here is less developed, but nonetheless a good number of plantations welcome visitors.

It's one of 6 Top Tea Tourism Destinations in India from Tripatini member Linda Wilson.
