Don't forget that the 10.3 US$/AR$ convertibility rate (actually, 9.20 as of today) is the one that is given to you by the "semi-unofficial" (yeah, welcome to Argentina) money changers that are, well, all over the place, but very discreet. If you are not Porteño, I'd recommend you trust a local friend to change your greenbacks for you. Otherwise, if you change at any official "casa de cambio", or if you use your credit card, your US$ will only be worth 6.20 pesos. In other words, if you spend AR$100 obtained through "dólar blue", it is as if you had spent US$ 11; if you spend the same sum with your credit card or after having changed in an official bureau de change, you'll be charged US$ 16 (plus commission).
