Besides showcasing more than 1,5000 actual artifacts, including space vehicles such as the shuttle Pathfinder (pictured here) and offering plenty of interactive exhibits and simulators, this 54-year-old indoor/outdoor state museum also offers tours of the nearby Marshall Space Flight Center and is home to Space Camp, a science-oriented summer program for kids from age nine through 18.
