And though recently it has evolved from a merely religious observance to an secular cultural (even pop cultural) phenomenon, the mix of elaborate religious pageantry and modern developments like bunnies, chicks, and Easter eggs is quite something to experience during Easter week. Here are a half dozen of my favorites: read post

Visitors to Rome face burgeoning garbage crisis

It's sad to say, but in the Eternal City - never Europe's cleanest to begin with - residents and visitors alike have been for months having to cope with mountains of trash as well as increasingly potholed streets, as Rome's Five-Star party mayor has cluelessly flailed about (tthough to be fair, she is up against generations of corruption in which the Mafia has thoroughly infiltrated municipal trash collection). There have been mass protests, and a month ago Though this Thompson Reuters is from…

5 extra cool things to do in Rome

Among the various cities I've traveled to in Europe, Rome is my favorite. The sites, history, construction and ancient buildings mark it as interesting reasons for millions of tourists to flock in each season. Being the key city in Italy, Rome is rich for its traditional and cultural ethics. Standing on the banks of Tiber River, its most outstanding aspect for me is its museums and galleries - this city of seven hills speaks out tradition and art. Thousands of Christians gather to attend…

  • Hello, everyone! My name is Michael, and I've been living in Rome for more than three years now. I'm not really up to date on hotels, but I have an excellent alternative (more space, more features, and less cost). II work for a company called Rental in Rome and we deal in apartment accommodations. My company offers over 600 Rome Italy holiday apartments, as well as breathtaking castles and villas in the surrounding areas. Our vast selection of Rome apartment rentals makes it the largest agency of its kind for vacation apartments in the historic center. We also feature vacation apartment rentals in Florence and Venice. Whether entertaining visitors, temporarily housing employees, or just passing through on your own, Rental in Rome has a wide range of excellent options to meet your needs, ranging from cheap apartments to luxury apartments and starting with just a three night rental minimum. If you need a Rome Italy rental, our company has one of the longest histories and the widest range of options for serviced apartments! Feel free to contact me directly at michael.smith@rentalinrome.com for any questions.
  • Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, clean 3 star (ish) hotel between Piazza Navona and Trevi? Even a little south fo the two near the Pantheon is fine. I will be there in September. Thank you!
Any other tidbits you'd like to share with me about Rome? I am all ears and all tips are appreciated. Restaurants? Sights?
    Thanks in advance.
