One of Europe and the world's most dynamic, exciting cities (even post-Brexit), a brilliant mix of cool and  historic, tasty and gritty. Oi, let the good Thames roll!

And though the reason for the African diaspora was tragic and horrific - the brutal, centuries-long trafficking of human slaves - it has also enriched many parts of the world, and indeed, world culture as a whole. So what better way to kick BHM off than with a look at a dozen of the most…

  • Here at The World on Wheels, we thought we'd lost a batch of photos we took on our first trip to London forever. A house cleaning turned up the photos in a box of CD's, so enjoy some of those restored pictures in today's report on London: http://tinyurl.com/y4us2l9

  • That would be Erith that the much-missed comedian Linda Smith described at "not exactly a city that never sleeps, more a town that lies awake all night staring at the ceiling." I remember driving through Erith and getting a distinctly John Wyndham feeling about the place. mind you, I was born and raised in Croydon, so I can't really talk.
  • The Black Horse in Bexley comes to mind and I used to have a couple of audit clients in Bromley (W.F. Potts dept store) and in Sidcup ( a haberdasher ) ..i love that word.eh wot?   ...Biggin Hill was my very first flying lesson...and the famous White Hart pub (of The Few Fame) on the A25......Deal Pier for some fishing and a few pints....cheers.

  • Erith. I grew up in Erith, a distant suburb of London. Been there? No, I didn't think so, although it is mentioned in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, and in a noel by Will Self. All a long way from Brooklyn, where I now sit.
