Google's top 10 most searched photogenic spots in the US in 2022 - some might surprise you!

Eileen Tan/Dreamstime.com   Google recently released its list of its most popular searches during 2022, and when it comes to scenic spots in the United States there are some surprises. For starters, “scenic spots” in Google’s definition does not include iconic places like Vermont’s Technicolor White Mountains in fall or the yawning Grand Canyon in Arizona (and by the waym more about canyons later). Instead, Google users were primarily interested in where to see and photograph some of Mother…

A blissful moment with humpback whales in Bora Bora

Work being slower than in prior years - fewer weddings, couple's shooting, and visitors in general - has allowed us to work on our underwater photography. Taking photos of marine life is something I love doing, grateful to always have my wonderful vahine at my side. Animal photography takes patience and a good amount of luck in having the perfect situation, unlike a wedding or couple's  photo shoot, we cannot create the scene or situation for the perfect shot. We love photographing sharks, over…

Underwater photography in Bora Bora

To unleash aquatic photography, I use Canon + a Nauticam housing. I got my first dive certification at age 14, at 18 I had acquired a Nikkonos V with a 35mm!  That was my first UW rig, today and after having tried many underwater housings, Nauticam is what I consider to be the best brand.  We are proud to have sold a few prints to several magazines and also have a few available (at a reasonable cost) on our gallery! I use a Canon DSLR, a Nauticam housing with Inon strobes, several LED lights &…

  • almada_Christ-the-King.jpg?width=200Erected at a height of 113 meters above sea level, as sign of gratitude of peace , Christ of King was thought by Cardeal D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira (the mentor of the project) .

    D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira, after a trip to Christ Redentor in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) in 1934 though on his construction, but only in 1949 started and ended in 1959, has a sign of gratitude to absence of Portugal in World War II . More information on Christ the King , clicking here .

Christ the King in near Almada, a city with more than 160.000 people , also famous for his bridge 25th April (2,7 kms). Has lots of known beaches like Costa da Caparica, Praia da Saúde, Cabana do Pescador, Fonte da Telha and lots of others. Golf, surf, bodyboarding or kitesurf are sports that we usually see at this part of the coast. Amazing locals for photography.

  • I like to think that amateur or other we are all photographers first after being people, that is what binds us together in this group.

You speak of uncomfortable...I specialise in travel and adventure travel/photojournalism so I have been dangling from cliffs, crossed the Western desert on Camel back it took 6 months (in Australia). Been in my sea kayak for a month it just keep on going. But you know the life experience is great. I myself get as much out of adventure as laying on that Monastery floor. As photographers we are exposed to the true visual wonders of the world, we don't just see we notice. For me my work as a photographer is my vehicle for travelling through life and it is my breath!

  • I'm just an amateur, Martin, although we should never forget that the word "amateur" derives from the Latin word for "love," and people will do a lot of crazy things for love. Lying on the floor of a monastery, for example. (And your photo was worth it.)

What's the craziest thing -- or most uncomfortable position -- you photographers have ever done to get a good photograph?

  • Hey NN thank you for your complement. :-)  I took the image in a Carmelite Monastery in the walled city of Mdina in Malta. I am laying on the floor with my camera mounted on a tripod looking up at the ceiling.  It was a challenging shot to take but it turned out ok, I'm glad you like it.
  • Martin, nice photograph! Did you place the camera on the floor of a church? And were you in Turkey?
  • Hi everyone this is a great group, The thing with travel photography is even your home is travel to someone else. But when your on the road with camera in hand it's quite the intoxicating feeling.

Discovering new places, interacting with people, making new friends and in the end your image is your interpretation of your inner vision and experience. Photography and travel photography is my life! 9012286655?profile=original

  • A new gallery of photographs of Frederiksborg Slot, the largest Renaissance palace in Scandinavia. Shot on a glorious crisp, sunny and cloudless day in Hillerød, Denmark last weekend. The castle houses Denmark's National Museum with its awe-inspiring collection of fine art, portraits and furniture. A highly recommended visit - allow a full day to take it all in at a leisurely pace.
