For starters, “scenic spots” in Google’s definition does not include iconic places like Vermont’s Technicolor White Mountains in fall or the yawning Grand Canyon in Arizona (and by the waym more about canyons later). Instead, Google users were primarily interested in where to see and photograph some of Mother…

A blissful moment with humpback whales in Bora Bora

Work being slower than in prior years - fewer weddings, couple's shooting, and visitors in general - has allowed us to work on our underwater photography. Taking photos of marine life is something I love doing, grateful to always have my wonderful vahine at my side. Animal photography takes patience and a good amount of luck in having the perfect situation, unlike a wedding or couple's  photo shoot, we cannot create the scene or situation for the perfect shot. We love photographing sharks, over…

Underwater photography in Bora Bora

To unleash aquatic photography, I use Canon + a Nauticam housing. I got my first dive certification at age 14, at 18 I had acquired a Nikkonos V with a 35mm!  That was my first UW rig, today and after having tried many underwater housings, Nauticam is what I consider to be the best brand.  We are proud to have sold a few prints to several magazines and also have a few available (at a reasonable cost) on our gallery! I use a Canon DSLR, a Nauticam housing with Inon strobes, several LED lights &…

  • Anil - Rokinon lenses are a good example of "you get what you pay for". It's a cheap lens with mediocre quality.
  • Has anyone used Rokinon lenses ? Why do they seem to be so inexpensive ? I am looking at http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Rokinon-650-1300-mm-Zoom-Lens-...

    Any comments ?

  • That's the right answer IMO, Ed. Even the lighter weight of a top-quality P&S compared to a DSLR does that - especially on long zooms. While I love the lighter load of my Fuji S1800, I'm going back to my Digital Rebel kit for anything but casual snapshots.
  • A Tripatini member asks me why my latest photos are so soft (aka lousy), so I said, "After decades of being well hung with good SLRs, I finally caved in to using my cell to take snapshots.  And the funny thing is, I'm so used to having some weight in my hands that I can't hold the cell still. Or, at least, I think that's the problem."  Let me know if that's not necessarily the right explanation. • Hi all, I have a Nikon D40 and I love it but I really need to take some time to learn the features. I'm sure it could do so much more than what I'm currently using it for. I can't take good night pictures on it at all.
