  • A Tripatini member asks me why my latest photos are so soft (aka lousy), so I said, "After decades of being well hung with good SLRs, I finally caved in to using my cell to take snapshots.  And the funny thing is, I'm so used to having some weight in my hands that I can't hold the cell still. Or, at least, I think that's the problem."  Let me know if that's not necessarily the right explanation. • If a winter trip to Alaska has ever intrigued you, have a look at today's blog with 28 photos from a drive from Whitehorse, Yukon to Skagway, Alaska. It's a 200-mile round trip through some of the most spectacular scenery on the continent. http://www.tripatini.com/profiles/blogs/a-bitterly-cold-drive-to

  • Hi all, I have a Nikon D40 and I love it but I really need to take some time to learn the features. I'm sure it could do so much more than what I'm currently using it for. I can't take good night pictures on it at all.
  • Day 5: Bonjour, Been having great fun mixing my stills an videos together for my 30 DAYS IN PARIS new media project on FB. Check it out and let me know what you think. www.facebook.com/30daysinparis. I'm using a Canon G12 for all the stills and video. It is a pain switching the settings back and forth, but having all the files on one SD card at the end of the day is great. Tested a new Kodak Z8 yesterday while visiting the Champs Elysees and avoiding terrorists. :-)
  • KImberly: Thanks for the link.
  • I've been a Canon loyalist since the 70s, so I don't know anything about the Minolta brand lenses. But I have to say, I would take a glass lens over a plastic lens hands down. There are different qualities of glass lenses too, so I would just say do your research and find a few lenses that would work for you and then start looking for them. You can also borrow a lens to see if it will work with your camera. You might want to check out BorrowLenses.com Yes, I'm an affiliate of theirs, but they've got a good system for checking out lenses before buying them.
  • I don't know much about either the Minolta lenses or the Sony Alpha, but I would say if it fits your camera, a really good lens is well worth it.
  • Does anyone have insights into using old Minolta lenses with Sony Alpa DSLRs ? From what I have heard, some of those glass lenses were very good, so if I do find a good lens, is it worth my while ?
  • Soooo close to the funding goal! How close? Just follow the link. Please help me spread the word among your facebook friends, fans and associates. Thanks, Kevin
