DUMBO and the Brooklyn Bridge topped Google´s list of most searched for scenic spots in the USA

Eileen Tan/Dreamstime.com   On Google´s list of its most popular searches during 2022, when it comes to scenic spots in the United States there are some surprises. For starters, “scenic spots” in Google’s definition does not include iconic places like Vermont’s Technicolor White Mountains in fall or the yawning Grand Canyon in Arizona (and by the waym more about canyons later). • Marilyn and Ed  -- Yes, Chock Full o Nuts opened on 23rd St. earlier this year, and is serving the classic NYC egg cream with real old-fashioned U-Bet.  Also the classic nutted cream cheese on raisin bread sandwich of my youth.  Remember when NYC was chock full of these luncheonettes?  Before Starbucks.  I reviewed the restaurant  on my NYC on the Cheap website back in July.

And this Chock -- which is supposed to be the first of many the new corporate owners want to bring back to NYC -- is also in my NYC on the Cheap 'app' downloadable from the iTunes store.  Here's the short link http://bit.ly/jg7otk

  • egg cream at chock full o nuts??? who'd a thunk it!   will try it out and let you know if real!

  • A new Chock full o' Nuts on 23rd St. serves all the great classics: date-nut bread with cream cheese, whole wheat doughnuts, an egg cream with Fox's U-BET syrup, milk shakes, even malted milk shakes. Could there possibly be anything better?

  • Anyone have suggestions for a member seeking out interesting geological formations (that's rocks to youse) in the NYC area. If so, she'd love to hear from you at this link to our Ask A Travel Pro Forum.  Thanks so much!

  • the guy Im seeing works in the building next door to the park where they're staging the protest and I had a hard time getting in there last Thursday. Otherwise, you would never know they are there. In fact, I forgot and couldn't figure out why the security guard was giving me such a hard time about entering the building. Was huddled in a doorway in the rain with about 50 tourists who were only upset that Century 21 was closed for Rosh Hashana
  • You must be kidding :) There are more demostrations outside UN in any given month, but that's boring and not newsworthy. With respect to tourism i doubt any travel plans have been disrupted.

  • Hello new york from hot florida! Are those demonstraters in Wall st. in my native city hurting business and travel?
  • Quick question re: hotels in Manhattan. Want to help?
  • This time around it is I who need help. Please see nyc hotel question on Ask A Travel Pro.
  • My new favorite shop in Greenwich Village: the [208] Sullivan Street Tea & Spice Company.  What's your favorite mom-and-pop shop in the Village? http://bit.ly/dYT1lS
