PA does have great ball parks for sure, on the first and third base sides of the sate! And as Richard pointed out, there are many great smaller parks in the middle. If the World Cup got you hungry for "fooootbol," visit the new MLS team, the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park in Chester, south of Center City, with a great river veiw.

I would agree that PNC Park is a real jewel, great views and "across the bridge" from downtown. I was lucky enough to be there when the the park opened. I also think that Citizens Bank Park (home of the Phillies) is a pretty terrific venue as well. All in all both MLB teams did a great job with their new stadiums. For real baseball fans the great joy of PA is our network of minor league teams. You can make a real roadtrip with a visit to 3 or 4 of our minor league teams. From AAA to A (and some others as well) there are a bunch of teams to check out. If I did the math right we have 11 minor league teams in PA.

That's for sure. Funny thing is, Darryl, every time I'm in town, they win. I'm the best thing to happen to them since Willie Stargell.

Boy, are you ever right. I've seen some of the top (and bottom) satdiums, too, and PNC is the best. Hell, the whole city is great, something I wouldn't have said a few decades a go.

But back to PNC: A few weeks ago, when I was in Steeltown (is that ever an outdated, misleading term) I made the mistake of sitting beyond first base, normally a good idea. But at PNC, if you can't get behind home plate, sit on the third base / left field side, so you get the fine view shown below in Darryl's photograph.
