The other "land Down Under" is lots smaller than neighbor Australia yet packs in a boggling amount of beauty and adventure in its two main islands and various other smaller ones -- along with Maori culture and a touch of urban cosmopolitanism. And of course let's not forget Hobbiton!

Morocco was the first place where I got the idea to experience the difference of international "glamping" -…

4 exciting activities in Rotorua

Rotorua is known as the "little town" of New Zealand's North Island (though its population is nearly 60,000), and the country's "Sulphur City," world famous for the geothermal activity resulting the area's volcanic activity. • Volunteering at Zealandia nature sanctuary today. Lots of oddball birds here; hope to see some baby kiwis. Have you done this sort of thing? http://bit.ly/vOjfi5

  • I played rugby Ed so it's funny to see these great ruggers in this video. Watched it three times and laughed.

  • Koru, I couldn't get your link to work, but I know the videos you mean, and you're right: They're a hoot. For example....

  • the whole NZ excitement I reckon already starts on board Air New Zealand, check out their youtube footage of safety videos, unique and abolutely so Kiwi :-) " target="_blank"><iframe width="456" height="342" src="http:... (although Rugby World Cup is over now they will change it again, can't wait)

  • "100% Pure:" one of the most exciting tourism videos I've ever seen. I actually went to youtube to see it again. Please fasten your seatbelts.

  • These are fantastic courses... at a price... for the average golfer who wants to meet locals...rather than other tourists....I would highly recommend playing local town and village courses where you will meet the local members at very reasonable prices.  Balclutha Golf Club comes to mind as one of the friendliest and welcoming group of little ball hitters anywhere.

  • You're absolutely right, Koru: I asked the golfers which course they were referring to, and it was the one at Kauri Cliffs Resort.  They were pretty wild about the resort itself, too. They mentioned Cape Kidnappers Lodge as a good alternative if you don't have money to burn.
  • @Ed. I am sure you mean Kauri Cliffs Resort at Matauri Bay, one of the most beautiful resorts and lanscape of Aotearoa. I do regular tours up there to take golfers who are always blown away by the stunning golf course and lodge. This as well as Matakauri Lodge and Cape Kidnappers Lodge is owned by american Julian Robertson by the way.
  • On the subject of beverages....some excellent Pinot Noirs from Martinborough ( North Island) and superb Sauv Blancs from Marlborough (South Island)....
  • Glad you are being treated well Ed with plenty of stimulation and extraordinary Kiwi experiences....be sure to tell everyone about them...just as I tell everyone about the extraordinary experiences to be had in the USA. America does a very poor job in promoting itself as an exceptional destination for visitors/ tourists. We can't speak highly enough of its wonders and people. :-)
