When it comes to Ecuador, most of visitors' intentions tends to end up focused around Quito, the Galápagos, colonial Cuenca, and maybe adventure hub Tena. But there's a Pacific coast down here, too, and one of the cool things about it - besides great beaches - is that it's home to more than a million afro-Ecuadorians, descendants of slaves brought here from Africa in the 16th century. Hi Colin,

I'm in GPS on business sitting on the porch of my little hotel in San Cristobal Island after a mind-boggling day of photographing boobies, sea lions and frigate birds all within walking distance! Tomorrow I'm going to a farm on the far side of the island to find out about their local crops and efforts to establish local food resources. What kind of info are you interested in?
