With its polders, windmills, and canal-crossed cities of Amsterdam and Delft, this picturesque country (also called Holland by some) is like no other in Europe. Definitely worth going Dutch!

Nobody wants to feel threatened, especially on a holiday where you are simply trying to have a good…

And since destinations have their own astro-charts -- which interact with yours -- astrology can even serve as a kind of spiritual travel agent. It can tell you, for example, about places likely to be harmonious or challenging…

  • Amsterdam is of course celebrated for its canals, but as a regular reader of Travel+Leisure I was intrigued to learn of a storybook village called Giethoorn that makes a great day trip from A'damm and is also known for its adorable little canals. • Radio says that the court in Holland has backed up the new law to prevent tourists from buying grass in The Netherlands. U think this will backfire on Holland?

  • No more marijuana in Holland!? "Foreign visitors will be banned from cannabis-selling coffee shops in southern Netherlands from January 1 to combat anti-social behaviour among tourists," reports the Daily Mail (UK).

"The Dutch justice ministry announced the ban after a consultation period and despite opposition from some MPs who branded the move 'tourism suicide'."

How much will this change tourism -- especially in Amsterdam?

  • Netherlands gov't. has announced that it's banning the sale of grass and hash to tourists. The city gov't. of Amsterdam is not nuts about this decision. I've never gone to one of these shops (i.e. I've never smoked legally); am I missing something good?
