10 places which show how Zambia Is eco-amazing

Diego Delso When it comes to safaris and ecotourism, Zambia often takes a back seat to the likes of Botswana, Kenya, and Tanzania. But this large country in south-central Africa is positively packed with eco treasures, and its marquis attraction is one of the planet´s most spectacular waterfalls, Victoria Falls, which it shares with Zimbabwe. In addition, there are some 20 teeming nature reserves which offer as rewarding an eco-experience as any of Zambia´s neighbors – arguably even more so,…

7 ecotourism stars of Honduras

HermésLeonelVega Though Costa Rica is Central America´s (and perhaps all of Latin America´s) premier star when it comes to ecotourism, there´s also an undersung but incredibly rich trove of eco treasures to be explored next door in Honduras, with lush rainforests and stunning coastlines, among other things. On the marine side – exploring the richness of the world´s second largest coral reef, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef – the islands of Roatán and Utila are better known. But here are a…

  • Thanks, Ariane. I just went to the website; bad dates for me, which is too bad. This looks like a terrific event.

  • Any group members interested in learning and networking about global ecotourism in Monterrey at TIES yearly Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference ?

    http://www.ecotourismconference.org/

As a new member of the TIES advisory board, I went to last years conference. I found it very worthwhile and the ESTC2012 is one of the few international events I have registered for.

Some great speakers, opportunities to see what Monterrey is doing sustainability wise. And it is always great to catch up with ecotourism friends from all around the world and meet new ones.  For those who have businesses this is a great opportunity to showcase yourself to some top influencers.

  • Mexican President Felipe Calderon just announced the cancellation of a $2 billion tourist development in Baja California, bowing to opposition by environmentalists that said the plan was a threat to a nearby coral reef. (Reuters) This development would have included golf courses, a marina, and 15 hotels.   How surprised are you that it was cancelled?

  • Anyone have any suggestions for a fellow Tripatini member about the best place in INDIA for game drives/safaris? If so, please respond not on this wall but rather at this link to our Ask A Travel Pro forumShukriya!

  • At Seven Directions Tours we want to suggest a new way to affiliate tourism with a purpose. The tourism industry witnesses new interesting trends where local tourism and conscious travel suggest alternative ideas about different meaningful travelling experiences. This featured tour’s goal is to create awareness about a variety of experiences manifested in diverse forms of art, nature, and human visions.

  • Seeking to interview representatives of unique destination travel locations

(publicists, CVB’s, Dept of Tourism, etc.) to discuss the following:

    —    Examples of how travel destinations spanning the planet are effected by the six-trillion-dollar global travel and tourism industry

    —      Positive ways to contribute to local societies and economies when traveling throughout North America and abroad

    —    What local communities are doing to earn money while simultaneously telling the stories that preserve their cultures

These discussions will contribute to a new journalistic project called “Write/Peace”, new on creative crowdfunding site: Kickstarter.  Over the course of one year, we will publish a series of long-form (3,500+) articles addressing the economic impact of travel and tourism worldwide.

If you would like to discuss this project further, please email us your thoughts: info@writepeace.com.
