It's amazing how many fail to recognise the "local operation" factor in ECO-tourism. Shame New Zealand quality rating organisations don't measure this in their tourism and enviro awards :P

We've had a lot of rain each evening in San Juan del Sur as well. No landslides here, as yet. We are preparing here at Villas de Palermo for a large outdoor wedding tomorrow night, so we're getting inventive with twinkle lights strung around large canopies.

I've been in Costa Rica these past six days while Hurricane Tomas floods roads, causes mudslides, and has killed at least two dozen people (that's not counting the people who are missing) in the Central Valley area. Eating and sleeping very well at wonderful ecolodges like Finca Rosa Blanca, but can you enjoy anything when there's so much misery just ten miles away?
