What do you wear to Seven Magic Mountains?

Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation located in the Nevada desert, and the weather can be quite hot and dry. You may also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. It's also a good idea to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. While there is no strict dress code, it's important to dress appropriately for the weather and…

  • Here's some tips from very frequent travelers in an inc.com article I recently wrote:

    http://www.inc.com/geri-bain/best-in-travel/secrets-of-the-most-pro...

And Nova Scotia is closer in time zone than your stopover at home. In my experience, it's best not to think about the time zone at home, or anywhere except where you are headed, sleep as much as possible on your flights, and  when you arrive, exercise outdoors to wake up to your new surroundings. Sounds like a wonderful challenge, actually! Enjoy!

  • Sam Scribe - your schedule doesn't sound too flexible but, if you can, get out in the fresh air for some light exercise, try eating lightly the first night but drinking lots of fluids and going to bed early. works for me.

  • No Jet Lag pills work really well for me. You can usually find them in more upscale drug stores (not a Walgreens/CVS level store - at least here in NYC). Ive also seen them at some travel gear stores.

  • Jet lag problems: Yesterday I returned to California from Nova Scotia, and tomorrow I'm heading to Athens, where I'll have to get right to work -- no naps, no rest. How do you travel writers keep your heads on straight?

  • Stacey, contact Kristian Sonnier in New Orleans: sonnierk@peteramayercom, 504.481.7933.

  • Does anyone have contact info for PR person in New Orleans that could help me get accommodations for a story on War of 1812 Bicentennial celebrations?

  • Ed, Im not a photojournalist, but I am a serious amateur. Adorama sends customers to PhotoTech at 110 East 13th for service. 212-673-8400. They did a great job with my underwater camera, but it was still under warranty so not sure about their pricing.

  • Photojournalists: Where would you take your camera for repairs in Manhattan?

  • Correction to my previous below from yesterday - just today, I mysteriously received an email from an outfit in NYC called JG Black Book which brands themselves as "resort marketing" but lists the BTB as a client.  They send me a press release detailing Prince Harry's arrival in Belize this afternoon (Fri.).as part of his grandmother's diamond jubilee celebration.  Since I never had contact with JG Black Book previously, and this type of press release contact is usually undertaken by a PR firm repping the TB, I'm concluding that BVK no longer is PR of record for the BTB and JG Black Book has taken that function over.  A quick look at the roster of properties repped by JG Black Book reveals they have a better notion of the way to reach media than their predecessors.  Now there's something else for both the BTB and Prince Harry to celebrate this afternoon;).  Oh, and here's the live streaming link on his arrival & activities in Belize they sent me:

Live Stream Video available on http://www.belizetelemedia.net/princeharry/

  • @Suitecaseready - where's the lots of inaccurate assumptions?  In fact I made none - I just asked you what your own were regarding the Belize travel demographic. I don't write exclusively for magazines targeted to high income people only, I also do blog, and I don't worry about those media definitions nowadays.  Although obviously the BTB, BVK/Kohler/Kriehn and perhaps you too do.   Which was my original point.  In fact, what I'm also pointing out that no market should be left out in the media outreach, the reference to your suitcase was just a figure of speech.  As to where I go and where I've been?  Everywhere in the Caribbean that I want or need to go to I always get there - and the agendas of national tourism boards and/or their North American PR never deter me.  The funny part of all this is that tons of media do go down to Belize - without either the assist or even knowledge of the BTB or BVK.  The quid pro quo is that they're never informed of the coverage which they did nothing towards enabling.
