What do you wear to Seven Magic Mountains?

Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation located in the Nevada desert, and the weather can be quite hot and dry. You may also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. It's also a good idea to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. While there is no strict dress code, it's important to dress appropriately for the weather and…

  • Heather, the join form insists on a web site that I don't currently have. Any work-around for that?
  • Hi, Please add Media Kitty www.mediakitty.com to your list of resources. We welcome accredited travel journalists to source news, contacts, jobs, trip opportunities and more. Active with 8,000 journalists and tourism professionals since 2001.
  • Patricia, I haven't been back for several years, so I'm not up to date on the hotels. That's the bad news. The good news is that "up to date" does not apply to Anegada. I believe you can still get Sanka decaf on this island, and incomprehensible though this may sound, I mean that as a compliment.
  • Thanks Ed. My task will be to find those virtues (St Thomas)! Maybe one of them is its lack of attitude compared w/ St; John! No dis intended there - I personally prefer St. John as you do. If you were recently in Anegada, appreciate help scoping out where to stay.
  • What wows me about St. Thomas is that it's just a ferry ride away from a better island: St. John. But people tell me that if you can get past the vendors etc. at the port, the island does have some virtues. Anegada: I love its down-home quality, the isolation, the locally owned hotels and restaurants, the mild air of disorganization as people who were truly isolated a few decades ago pursue the tourism biz in their own very island way. This is the Caribbean, and that's all to the good. See also this forum: http://www.frommers.com/community/forum.cfm?plckForumPage=Forum&amp...
  • I'm heading to St. Thomas USVI and Anegada BVI and interested in what wowed you in either place. Happy to take additional assignments, too, story or photo.

  • Hey Media Members,

A couple of you have reported today that our group's e-mail updates are flooding your inbox. Fear not! There's an easy way to stop the e-mails in two super-quick steps, while still remaining a full-fledged member of "Media Only!"

These e-mails are a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of issues affecting travel writers (ok, issues don't have a pulse, just bear with me!), but please feel free to stop the e-mails and check in with the group at your own pace.

    Happy Monday to all!
  • The Leatherback MArine Park in Costa Rica is at risk of being destroyed. Unbelievably, Oscar Arias himself is sponsoring a bill to downgrade the status of the park and make it a "refuge." It won't work. The Leatherback turtles, already critically endangered, will lose their nesting grounds on the beaches. This is a serious blow to ecotourism in Costa Rica and a major disgrace to Costa Rica's green image. I just published an online magazine that tells more about this crisis. Pleas pass this on to appropriate individuals, groups, and media outlets.
