Kariega Game Reserve: a South African recovery story

It took us three days to drive from Cape Town along South Africa’s "Garden Route" to Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, but it was well worth the drive. Maureen, sounds like you really do have a great trip coming up, and in part that's because you're not rushing in and out. I would do the non-safari week before rather than after the safari, so you can shake off the jet lag. After all, sleeping schedules on safaris are wacky enough. Beyond that, I can't answer your question, but I'd encourage you to post it on the Media Only group as well as this page.

The trip of a lifetime (at least MY lifetime) is coming up - I am going to safari in the Masai Mara area in August. I want to make the most of this trip and need a little guidance on what to do while I'm there. I'd like to spend at least a week (either before or after the safari) - doesn't necessarily have to be Kenya. I am a freelance writer and photographer, so any ideas will be considered! Thanks!
