  • With summer officially arriving today, here are 10 summer vacation ideas to get off the beaten path in Nova Scotia and on the Authentic Seacoast:

  • Thanks Allan and Colin. That's what I wanted to hear!
  • I live in Vancouver. We have snow at Grouse, Cypress, Seymour and Whistler/Blackcomb - the lack of snow "problem" was blown out of proportion by the obvious importance of the Olympics. All snow locations have occassional "problems" during a season... As Allan says there's a good chance of skiing November through April. The hiking, biking, zip-lining, golf, etc in the Spring/Summer isn't bad either...
  • Thanks. The honour of the nation was at stake.

BTW, I was in Vancouver Dec. 08 and in Vancouver and Whistler in January 09 doing my Olympic coverage. It snowed in December and almost brought the city to a halt. I was out to dinner with friends on Saturday night. It snowed three inches and the next evening my flight was delayed seven hours because of the snow!

Whistler had tons of snow then and it snowed while I was there. I've been to Whistler five times and even in April you'll have enough snow on the mountain to ski or snowboard. I don't ski, but I started getting snow reports about mid-November for Whistler.
  • Yes, and you earned it. Congratulations Canada !
  • Whistler had snow all along. Remember, Vancouver is on the coast, Whistler is two hours away in the mountains.

Oh, btw - we won gold at hockey!!!
  • After looking at these Winter Olympics, I can't decide if I should ski Whistler-Blackcomb next year or not. Have you been? How reliable is the weather?
  • Hi Toby,
Your 'CanadaLuxury.Travel' website sounds nice. Please get in touch. Sincerely, Richard Maloney (rundles@cyg.net)
