Trekkers start early morning compared to the other days from Lobuche during the Everest base camp, Everest high passes, Cho La Pass, and Helicopter Return Treks because it is an important day that they are visiting the base camp. It is a long day which is why trekkers have to start the day early morning. It takes 3 hours to reach Gorakshep from Lobuche and then another 2-3 hours (one way) to the base camp. You can not sleep at the base camp, so you need to hike back to Gorakshep after visiting the base camp. If you do not have enough time for a trek or can not go on a trek to high altitudes, you can take a helicopter tour to the Everest base camp from Kathmandu.
