Lobuche is the last place before you reach Everest base camp. You need to start walking early morning from here to go to the EBC because it is a long day. You trek to Gorakshep in 3 hours and then hike to the base camp another 2-2 hours and a half (one way), and then the same hike back to Gorakshep to stay.
If you do not have time to trek back to Lukla after visiting Kalapatthar on the following day, you can fly direct to Kathmandu on a helicopter or head on towards Cho La pass to visit the Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri if you are an adventurous trekker having a few more days with the regular EBC trekking itinerary.
