This year marked the 11th annual Belize marathon and half marathon, held in Placencia, Belize in early December of each year. Referred to as the End of the World marathon since it's inception to mark the end of the Maya calendar in it's initial year.
All proceeds raised in connection with the End of the World marathon are donated in full to benefit scholarships issued at the high school, university and trade schools for Belize youth.
Of course, the real attraction is the runners and volunteers who have worked so hard to make this event a Belize happening. However, on the lighter side, the water stations are festive, fun and an attraction of their own. This water station video is at Chabil Mar Villas Resort along the marathon route.
