On the occasion of it´s centenary this year, there will be loads of coverage of all types - much of it no doubt cute, nostalgic, and cherry picked. But I found this video which details one man´s drive of the ENTIRE route - and for the most part it´s actually not a pretty picture.  There are some cool places out there, certainly, but it makes you realize that much of the USA along this route is in fact dreary and decaying. This monumental video is more than 11 HOURS long, but you can dip into it at various points to check out spots in, say, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, and so forth. It´s eye-opening, to say the least
