Green Travel Road Show 2011 to Focus on the Power of Storytelling in Marketing,
Confirms Top Tourism and Sustainability Experts as Speakers

DETAILS:            “Telling Your Story: Stake Your Claim in the Cascadia Travel Market” is the

theme of the 2011 Green Travel Road Show. This annual conference produced by the P.U.R.E. Travel Collaborative offers an opportunity to connect with tourism organizations offering sustainable and unique experiences in the Pacific Northwest.

 

Speakers include: Gifford Pinchot III, co-founder and president of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute, an alternative business school that integrates environmentally and socially responsible innovations with traditional business education, enabling future and current business leaders to create a sustainable world; and Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon, which has won numerous awards for its travel marketing programs, which are focused on storytelling. Davidson was a recipient of the Travel Industry Association's State Tourism Director of the Year award.

“The Cascadia story has many chapters that offer travelers every kind of experience, from maritime to city to mountains, and from culinary and culture to biking and skiing," said Jake Haupert, president of Evergreen Escapes, and president and founder of the P.U.R.E. Travel Collaborative. "Being able to tell your own story in meaningful and experiential ways is key to marketing success for the whole region.”

The conference will include panels and workshops to help tourism organizations craft and tell their story in ways that resonate with travelers and promotes the Cascadia experience. Media experts, writers, bloggers and destination marketers will share their insights and offer ideas about effective storytelling and marketing.

Early bird registration of $85 for P.U.R.E. Members, $120 for non-members will continue through August 31. After that date and at the door, registration is $100 for members and $140 for non-members. The conference also will follow green meeting practices by reducing paper use and offering community volunteer activities. The conference will be held in Seattle so that attendees can more easily arrive by train, shuttle or car-share.
