Bandhavgarh national park was established in 1968 and was named after an ancient fort in the same area. The park is home to more than 22 species of mammals which include the Barasingha which was almost extinct, spotted deer, sambar, black buck, wild pigs and of course a number of beautiful birds as well. The best time to plan a trip here is between February to June when the climate is cooler and the chances of seeing the wildlife here is higher.

Satpura National Park

Your Madhya Pradesh wildlife tour would be incomplete without a trip to the Satpura National Park. Lush forests of sal, teak and bamboo along with sandstone peaks and ravines meet the eye upon entry and the park is home to a diverse collection of animals and birds. Pench Tiger Reserve

Pench National park is situated on the southern slopes of the Satpuda Hills and it is the river Pench that divides the park into two. Rumored to be the original setting for Kipling's 'Jungle Book', the uneven terrain is criss-crossed by streams and natural waterholes. One can find deciduous forests, shrubs, sheltered valleys as well as wild grass here. The park is home to more than 1200 varieties of plant life and its diverse wildlife is a treat for any nature lover. Pench deserves its place as one of the best National Parks in Madhya Pradesh even today.
