The Chandigarh to Manali route is around 300–310 km by road, and the journey is much more enjoyable when you plan a few meaningful breaks instead of driving continuously. The commonly used route passes through Kiratpur Sahib, Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Mandi, Kullu and Manali.

1. Kiratpur Sahib

A good early stop for breakfast, tea, or a short break. If you have extra time, Anandpur Sahib is a worthwhile cultural detour.

2. Bilaspur & Gobind Sagar

Bilaspur is ideal for a quick scenic break. The Gobind Sagar reservoir provides beautiful mountain-and-water views, particularly in clear weather.

3. Sundernagar

A practical lunch stop with convenient facilities. Sundernagar Lake and the surrounding greenery make it a pleasant place to stretch your legs.

4. Mandi

Known as “Chhoti Kashi,” Mandi is a great place for lunch, tea, or a short cultural stop before the more mountainous section toward Manali.

5. Pandoh & Kullu

The road around Pandoh Dam and the Beas Valley offers some of the most dramatic scenery. Kullu is another excellent stop for river views, local shopping, and a relaxed break.

Travel tip: Start early from Chandigarh, during weekends or peak seasons, and avoid stopping at unsafe roadside viewpoints. For a well-planned Chandigarh to Manali trip, you can explore Shimla and Manali tour packages from Delhi.
