A: There are plenty of Instagram-worthy places in Shimla and Manali that make for great photos, and you don't need to hunt for hidden spots to get good shots — most of them are right along the usual travel route.

In Manali, Solang Valley is a favorite for its wide snow fields and mountain backdrop. Old Manali is great too, with its colorful cafés and quiet lanes that feel very different from the main market area. The forest around Hadimba Temple, with its tall cedar trees, also makes for a peaceful, natural-looking photo.

In Shimla, Mall Road and The Ridge are the easiest picks, especially in the evening when the lights come on and the old buildings stand out. Kufri is another good option if you want wide mountain views with layers of clouds and hills in the background.

If you're traveling between the two, spots like Naggar Castle and Narkanda are worth a quick stop too, since they're less crowded and still very photogenic.

The simplest tip that actually makes a difference is timing early morning or late afternoon light looks much better in the mountains than the middle of the day.
