The Royal Flora show in Chiang Mai is an amazing array of flower that covers acres with beautiful displays. Luckily there is a hop-on hop-off tram for touring the site. Take the tram and decide what is of most interest to you as there is too much to see in one day. Many countries are included in the Friendship of Many Cultures including Japan, Canada, India, Bhutan, and many others. The Thai Royal Pavilion is outstanding and the largest of the cultural displays.
Visit the Garden of Happiness showcasing art, music and culture of more than 10 countries. Watch the Parade of Royal Flora in Ratchaphreuk Square daily at 7 pm. It is family fun where visitors can play, dance and have a photo op with the parade. Ride the Giant Flora Wheel for a great overview of the Expo. On Ratchaphruek Lake enjoy the amazing Miracle of Greenitude, a magical fantasy of mixed media techniques of 5D where the story of human invasion of nature is dramatized. When darkness fall visit the Imagination Light Garden with millions of lights and fluorescent butterflies dancing to the music while illuminated leaves move.
There are gardens dedicated to orchids, gourds, tropical plants, bonsai and other specialty plants. Take a break at one of the many dining establishments and buy a souvenir of the event before leaving. The event normally runs through January and February.
